You’ll join as Principal/Staff Research Scientist, with a strong team taking a different approach to developing scalable, accurate and reliable AI.

 

Presently many companies developing large language generation models have developed solutions which can solve challenges quickly but are mostly generic models, often sacrificing accuracy, creating hallucinations, bias and lacking trustworthiness.

 

This company is looking to change that. They are combining the latest advances in Deep Learning approaches, Transformers, LLMs and more traditional approaches such as neural networks such as GNNs and ML / Reinforcement learning.

 

Your role as a Principal / Staff Research Scientist will be to drive the research direction, breakthroughs in research unique new approaches, solve various challenges and inspire the team to do the same. You’ll be designing & building architectures that can scale on extremely large amounts of data for the two main components of their system.

 

Your work will bring the best of Deep Learning, Machine Learning and Symbolic models to solve one of the biggest challenges in Natural Language Generation. 

 

You’ll have the freedom to innovate and experiment with various approaches combining the SOTA and traditional approaches. You’ll be a product visionary and you’ll see your research be applied to this product

 

You’ll need a strong background in Natural Language, with recent experience in Natural Language Generation (NLG) and LLMs at scale, including fine-tuning and/or pre-training. If you’ve built AI systems using GNNs, Reinforcement learning or have a background in Symbolic AI, you’re someone we’d love to consider.

As this is Principal or Staff level, we’re ideally looking for at least 5-10+ years in the industry, if you have a PhD with relevant research, we’d consider fewer years in industry roles. This seniority is important, as you'll be inspiring and coaching some of the team. Whilst your immediate impact will be as an IC, there is potential opportunities to leadership, if you wish to take that route, or you can continue to excel as an IC here too!

Research publications or patents are expected, especially those of relevance to Natural language. This company plans to publish papers and you’ll play a key part in this.

Desirable experience includes Knowledge graphs, Graph ML, GNNs or developed foundational models from scratch.

 

Your team is made up of great minds from various well-known companies developing AI systems – applied scientists, research engineers and software engineers. The founder was the creator of the technology behind one of the most widely used conversational AI’s in the world. This is a fast-moving start-up, so it would be beneficial if you’ve worked for start-ups (or a start-up-style environment prior).

You’ll be financially remunerated with a base salary between $190,000 - $260,000 (negotiable). As part of your package, you’ll receive stock options, 25 days of vacation (plus public holidays), pension and more.

 

Whilst remote is considered for industry-leading candidates, the preference is for someone to be based out of their central London office at least 1 day per week. Visa sponsorship and relocation support can be provided if you are planning to relocate.
