Job Description

Are you ready to shape the cognitive abilities of tomorrow’s robots?

As a Research Engineer focused on Reasoning, you'll work to empower robots with human-like decision-making capabilities, enabling them to intelligently navigate real-world complexities.

Your initial goal will be to dive deep into research, drawing inspiration from cutting-edge papers like "Open X-Embodiment: Robotic Learning Datasets and RT-X Models." and “Open X-Embodiment: Robotic Learning Datasets and RT-X Models”. Over the first six months, you'll be responsible for researching, applying, and building a sophisticated reasoning system.

This is a Staff level role, so you will have a PhD plus at least a few years in the industry leading technical projects.

You'll also be tasked with providing a strategic vision for scaling this new reasoning system, sharing your findings through industry publications, and leading the deployment of your ideas at a larger scale. As the project evolves, you'll lead a growing team to support the increased scope of activity.

You should be proficient in working with Transformers, including Large Vision Models, LLMs, and Multimodal Models. A background in NLP is expected, and experience with Symbolic reasoning is a plus, but a deep understanding of Deep Learning and Transformers is essential.

Autonomy and self-sufficiency are critical for this role. You'll define data requirements, set up environments, gather data, run simulations, analyse results, and showcase your work. Reproducing research papers in RT-X or VLA will be a regular part of your role, and you'll need to overcome the challenge of applying these concepts to real robots.

In addition to research, you’ll need to consider the practical challenges of deployment, especially as the team grows and more infrastructure hires are made to support your work.

This hybrid role is based in London, requiring 3 days in the office. Relocation and visa support are provided.

The base salary is £150,000 - £200,000, depending on experience, plus stock options.

If you're passionate about pushing the boundaries of AI and robotics, apply today for immediate consideration.
